The Area Around Sewdley
Sewdley is in a converted barn, containing three holiday lets, Hopton, Sewdley and one other in the middle. The cottages have access to a private garden at the rear with individual seating areas as well as a 10 acre paddock so plenty of space to explore. Situated between three woods Hopton, Radnor and Sewdley it is a great place for keen walkers or cyclists.
South Shropshire is a special area that has yet to be discovered by popular tourism. Over the years the countryside in this area and the villages and settlements have remained relatively unchanged. Great walks are a major feature of this area and there are many that can be taken directly from the Coachman's Cottage leaving the car behind. Further afield are Offa's Dyke, the Shropshire Way , the Jack Mytton Way , the Kerry Ridgeway and the Long Mynd. Cycle Hire is available locally and there are interesting Cycle Routes in the area.
Storage is available at the cottage, if you hire bikes or bring them with you. Historical sites worth visiting are in Clun, Ludlow Castle , Stokesay Castle and Powys Castle . The NGS have lots of open gardens in this area including those at Powys Castle and Hergest Croft.
The towns of Clun , Bishop's Castle and Ludlow all have a selection of pubs, restaurants and cafes. Visit our Events Calendar, Attractions, Things to do for free and Where to Eat pages for more ideas.
August 2016 "We really enjoyed our stay at Sewdley. The cottage was very clean and comfortable, with everything provided that was needed, eg washing up liquid, cloths, some dishwasher tablets, foil, etc. The open plan kitchen /diner was ideal with the separate lounge being cosy and comfy. There was a stair gate to stop the dog going upstairs and a separate boot room, which was also useful for the dog. The surroundings were very peaceful and pretty and there was plenty to do in the area. I would definitely recommend the cottage to others."
September 2015 "We very much enjoyed our stay at Sewdley. Andrew was very nice and helpful. It was very comfortable. Wonderful countryside....... "
August 2015 "We had a great time at Sewdley and absolutely loved the cottage. The main highlights of the cottage for us is that it had a large diner kitchen, nice cozy lounge, low ceilings, open top front door, nice garden and patio at front. Also lovely scenery and beautiful surroundings. We walked to the village several times and the people were so friendly."
August 2015 "The cottage met our needs for a wonderful tranquil holiday, and the owners were welcoming and kind."

July 2012" My wife and I arrived at the cottage on Monday, and were joined by our daughter, son-in-law and two grandchildren on Thursday. The cottage was first rate, attractive and comfortable and absorbed the six of us without difficulty. The furniture was comfortable, the decor was good and the whole was well-equipped. The owner was kind, courteous and always willing to help. Our holiday was very enjoyable, and there are no adverse criticisms that I can think of, so I have no suggestions for improvements. I am simply grateful to the owner for providing us with the means of enjoying a memorable holiday."
Aug 2011 "Yes we really enjoyed our holiday thanks - it was a last minute booking so we didn't expect much to be available but the cottage you recommended was absolutely lovely. It was very clean, comfortable, and such a fantastic location - with the paddocks and river and huge woods either side it was the perfect spot for us. So peaceful and quiet but well placed for exploring the area.
The owner was very nice, approachable and helpful and he gave us some fresh eggs! The kids loved the dog Alfie (as well as the pony!)'. We have never been to Shropshire before but we really loved it. So many sights, lovely walks and wonderful scenery - it was a real pleasure. Really glad we discovered the place and it was so nice to do so through a locally based company - the website was good and you were very nice to deal with. Would very much like to come back again one day!"
